Words are not enough - a blog by Angela McShannon

It is hard to put into words what our experience at Island Primary has been like. The amount of work the group has achieved has been outstanding. In 5 days 3 teachers houses have been built, the bio gas has been activated and a new kitchen area has been created. Everything here is very labour intensive we do not have the luxury of all the tools and equipment we have at home however we have improvised and made the best of what we have.

I have been amazed at the way some of the children have come to help us with the building work the way they push wheel barrows, carry water and lift bricks is a sight to see.

I have never worked so hard, looked so dirty or had so many laughs. This has been an incredible experience and one I will never forget.

The team that is here have got on so well, we have Ian who constantly makes us laugh, Andy who is our unofficial Project Manager, David who is our calming influence, Ricky who is our fire starter, Cyril our style guru, Beverley our steadying influence, Trisha our Leonardo Di Vinci, Alicia (my tent buddy) is Mrs Motivator and Lyndsay our school Examiner, Claudio aka Rambio our cameraman Chris our singing photographer and last but by no means least Mairi our perfect team mate. The best group of people I could have wished for.

Time to now go to the camp fire for a chat about our day. Heaven.
