In October 2012 the William Hill Foundation confirmed it would sponsor the work at the Island Primary School in Kenya in conjunction with William Hill who fund the travel and accommodation for William Hill colleagues who go to Africa to work as part of the team.
Our project teams have made great progress in Africa but we still have a lot to achieve. We work with the head teacher, local landowners and our operations expert in Kenya as well as taking advice from other experts out in Africa. We have a created a plan of work spanning a number of years. The Foundation’s Patron Robbie Savage is highly involved in the Project and as well as leading the way on fundraising he has been out to the school and worked closely with William Hill colleagues on the project.
Broadly the plan is to concentrate on developing the fundamental things needed at the school first, then start looking at further education, potential child sponsorships and ultimately basic health and medical facilities for the wider community.
